Had a blast making these two covers with Katie Tsuji. These two songs (from Clapton and Leadbelly) have some great songwriting, and both come from a blues foundation. In that sense they're simple, but are also lot of fun to play around with .
I wanted to show a quick demo of how the Rio Grande Muy Grande Humbucker sounds in my strat for those of you looking for a reliable demo. When engaged in humbucking mode, this pickup is big, fat, muddy, and dark --- but it sounds great if you know how to use it. This pickup is a true-split, meaning that when split it is a full-on single coil -- not weak in any respect. I often switch between the two modes, and it is a very versatile pickup. Check this out to hear how it sounds in a blues context.
Check out what what can be done with a simple Boss RC-3 loop pedal. Endless hours of fun, and really good for creating ideas on the fly. If you thought that was cool, check out the backing track below that I made by transferring the loop from the pedal into Logic Pro X, where I re-amped it and added drums and bass.
If you haven't guessed by now, I really love the Dimarzio Twang King pickups...
Here's a brand new track for all you reggae fans to check out: [soundcloud url="https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/150928566" params="color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false" width="100%" height="90" iframe="true" /]
Here is a song I've played for a numbers of years and goes back to when I auditioned to get into college for music. Very mellow and played with a rubato feel. I've probably played this better --- and worse --- over the years.
